Mid-Prairie Scripture Mission (MPSM)

Mid-Prairie Scripture Mission is the legal name and organization behind Camp Kadesh. MPSM was started in 1946 with the main objective being to teach the scripture to children.  The ministry was primarily the work Mr. Alfred Friesen and he started with going into 27 public schools.  There we three parts to the mission: the Scripture Memory Program and school visitation, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and summer camps.  Mr. Friesen, crisscrossed the province in all manner of weather to teach school children.   Camp Kadesh came out of various camps that were run in different locations, until in 1982 property was purchased to give a permanent home to the summer camps.   A short history of Camp Kadesh is listed below.

Today MPSM and Camp Kadesh exist in the one growing part of the year round ministry of Outdoor Recreation Program, Summer Camps, and other opportunities for retreats and rental groups.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in one God who is revealed in Scripture as eternally existing in three equal persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We believe the whole Bible is the inspired word of God – Old and New Testaments.  It is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is equal to God, yet fully man.
  • We believe that man was created in the image of God in order to live in a fulfilled friendship with God.  Man sinned and thereby incurred not only physical but also spiritual death, which is separation from a friendship with God.
  • We believe in Jesus Christ’s substitutionary atonement for man through his death on a cross and his resurrection.  Faith in Jesus is the only path to salvation.  His death is the only atonement that satisfies God’s justice, and can restore man’s friendship with God.
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, his ascension into heaven, and his present ministry to us as High Priest and Advocate.  His return is imminent, and he will return to heaven with all those who love him.
  • We believe in the eternal reward of believers and the eternal punishment of unbelievers.  The individual who lives in sin and does not repent cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
