Hi! I’m Lizzie Rowan and I’m the Camp Director at Camp Kadesh.
I’m so excited to be working full time at Camp Kadesh because this is the place I grew up. I started coming to Camp Kadesh as a 9-year-old who knew nothing about Jesus and thought camp was just a fun place to be in the summer. Don’t get me wrong, it is a super fun place to be in the summer! But it is also a really special place where kids from any background, whether they grew up knowing about God or not, can encounter Jesus and His love in profound ways. It is because of this place, the fun that was had, and the amazing staff, that I became a follower of Jesus as a teenager and have been serving in youth ministry since.
I am someone who loves to know how things work. I love to ask questions and know all the details. I love learning new things. I also really love walking alongside people as they journey through life and faith. It is for these reasons that I decided to make ministry my job as there are always new things to learn, new people to walk with, and new ideas to put into action and make them come to life.
In my free time, you can almost always catch me reading while snuggled up with my dog, Dennis. On rare occasions with the right mix of energy and inspiration, I also love to cook (especially for other people). Napping is also a prime way to spend a weekend afternoon. Potentially a hot take for a camp director, but people would describe me as “outsidey” as opposed to “outdoorsy”. I love to be outside for fun activities, but will take a cozy bed and warm shower over camping any day.
