Junior Lifeguard Program Team Member

Remuneration
The Junior Lifeguard Program Team Member Position is an 2 week developmental position for those who are lifeguarding for the first time ever or their first time at Camp Kadesh. They will be designated to Lifeguard after 2 weeks in this position, pending fit.
This position is $150 per week honorarium.

Organization
Lifeguard Cabin Staff report to the Waterfront, Watersports and Program Coordinators.

Qualifications:

  • Preference given to those that hold current NLS certification (pool, waterfront, or surf), consideration given to those that hold bronze cross certification.

  • Have completed a camp leader in training (LIT) program, or similar development program, or similar experience.

  • Have experience working with and leading children and youth.

  • Enjoy and connect well with people of all ages, especially youth and children.

  • Desire to add a creative flare to their area of program.

  • Outgoing and high energy.

  • Willingness to be outdoors in all types of weather.

Expectations

  • Adhere to the Camp Kadesh Staff manual and the MPSM Code of Conduct

  • Be involved in staff meetings, leadership clusters, one-on-ones, and community groups.

  • Contribute in a positive manner to the Kadesh community

  • Lifeguard Program Team Member typically are on duty whenever the waterfront is open. They are required to participate in other program elements such as playing games and helping with special program events. They have time off assigned outside of these times.

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities of the role as assigned by the Watersports Coordinator, including coming early for waterfront area set up and clean up and participating in maintenance and upkeep of the boats and the Watersports equipment.

  • Be familiar with Camp Kadesh’s waterfront operations, as well as the Saskatchewan Camping Association and Lifesaving Society’s standards for practices and equipment (including safety, recreational, and boating equipment).

  • Work closely with the Watersports and Waterfront Directors and other program staff to ensure the safety of staff and guests is maintained.

  • Respond and adapt programming to changes in weather.

  • Report any damage or safety issues to the Coordinators or Directors.

  • Other duties as assigned by Directors or Coordinators.
