Team Building Games:  TBG are a set of problem-solving activities that require the entire group’s participation to solve. These challenges give the students the opportunity to develop their problem solving skills, listening, cooperation, communication, and creative thinking. Students will set a goal, plan, discuss, and then participate as a group to accomplish the task at hand.

The Whipper:  The Whipper functions similar to a large tree-top swing, 1-2 students are harnessed securely onto the swing rope while their classmates work together as a group to raise and hold the participant(s) at their desired height. The student participants are then free to gather their courage and release themselves for an adrenaline-fuelled swing.

Climbing Wall:  Students have the chance to try out our 30 foot climbing wall. With multiple routes varying in difficulty, we have a challenge for everyone. Give it everything and encourage classmates to do their best. While waiting for their turn, our bouldering wall offers the chance to practice and try different techniques with a variety of games and challenges to get everyone involved. Our new auto-belay system allows for more students to climb at once.

Challenge Course:  Students move as a group and participate in low-ropes elements designed to test individual, partner, and group capabilities and teamwork. Balance, coordination, and communication are emphasized with each task presenting a new and unique challenge for students to try and master. Time spent at each task varies depending on group dynamics and preference.

Marksmanship:  Students are instructed on how to safely handle and use a bow and then are given the chance to test their aim while supervised at our range.

Canoeing:  Students partner up and are taught basic canoe safety and effective paddling techniques before launching their canoes and adventuring on Christopher Lake. Working together as canoeing partners is just as important to success as the paddling competency itself is. This activity is subject to lake and weather conditions. 

Fire Building:  Students are instructed in essential fire-building basics, including types of fuels, use of flint and steel, fire construction, and fire safety. Students then break into groups and are encouraged to start their own fire with materials gathered from the surrounding environment. This activity is subject to fire ban conditions.

Djembe Circle: Students will learn a brief history of these drums and how to play them. What makes the Djembe unique is that it was created for anyone to play. During this activity students will play goofy games as well as learning how to communicate without speaking.

Ultimate Frisbee:  This classic sport uses simple rules and a basic skillset to present an enjoyable game for all students. Done on the camp field, this activity gets the whole class moving and can be modified to ensure full class engagement so nobody feels left out. 

Beach Volleyball:  Volleyball is one of those staple sports that is fun anywhere. Our beach volleyball court has a beautiful view of the lake and provides opportunity for some friendly competition. This sport encourages teamwork and athleticism on a safe playing field. Instructors may add unique twists to volleyball matches to keep things fresh and encourage student engagement. 

Map Orienteering:  Students are instructed on how to read a camp map and are sent out in groups to find landmarks and their associated symbols in a friendly competition. The group that finds and records the most landmark symbols is the victor. May be combined with compass orienteering.

Compass Orienteering:  Students are instructed regarding compassing basics and how to handle a standard compass for orienteering. Students then break up into groups and follow one of several marked routes throughout the camp using their newly-developed skills. Successful groups may embark on a different route and see how many they can complete. May be combined with map orienteering.

Crafts: (Bracelet Making) Bracelet making is an easy DIY craft to pick up! During this block we will explore the different types of braids such as a Chevron, Fishtail, or Diamond weave. Students will have the chance to experiment with the different kinds and have bracelets of their own to take home afterwards.

Nature Hike:  This activity takes part on a loop trail along the north end of Christopher Lake. Students will have the chance to experience some of Canada’s beautiful boreal forest, seeing both plants and wildlife along the way.

Basketball: Students are divided into teams for a game of basketball on our lakeside court. Friendly competition on the court encourages team work. Instructors may add different basketball games like 21 and Bump to keep things fresh.

Outdoor Cooking: Students work together to build a campfire with their instructor who will then direct them in cooking a baked treat over the fire. This skill ends with time to spend enjoying a snack. This activity is subject to fire ban conditions.

Broomball: For this skill, the basketball court gets turned into a broomball rink. Use teamwork to pass and shoot your team’s way to victory. Make sure to bring along not only your competitive edge, but also your good sportsmanship to make sure that everyone has an enjoyable time.

Improv: Although many do not go on to study theatre, or become famous on television, one acting skill that is transferable is improv. Having to think quickly on your feet, roll with the punches, and adapt is simply an every day task for most people. Improv is a fun way to practice these important skills and also allows the class clown a time to flourish.

Zipline: Experience the stunning views of Camp Kadesh with a thrilling ride on our 40ft tall, 300ft run Zipline. Participants will climb to the top of the starting post while harnessed in safely, jump off the platform, and zoom down the line. Engineered by professionals, gravity will bring them to a slow stop at the other end of the field. Staff will roll a ladder to the camper, and get them down safely.

Giant Games: Have you ever wondered what it would be like if some of your favourite games turned giant? You can now check it out with this new leisure activity featuring giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, giant (soccer) pool, and giant corn hole!

Disc Golf: Disc golf is an inclusive activity which involves throwing a disc from the tee and hitting an above-ground target in as few throws as you can. The forest terrain at Camp Kadesh makes for interesting obstacles on the course as you aim to have the best score of the round.

Mini Golf: The newest addition to Camp Kadesh! An epic nine-hole mini golf course just like regular golf, but smaller, sillier, and way more fun! Each hole has twists, turns, bumps, and some have moving targets. It’s a game for all ages and skill levels, easy to play, fun to try, and always exciting. See how few shots it takes you, laugh with friends, and enjoy the camp scenery while you play.
