Food Service Staff

Remuneration:

The Food Service Staff position is an 8 or 17 week position.
This position starts at (Tier 1) $400 per week + room and board

This position can also be a 35 hour per week position, with hourly rate to be determined based on experience.

Overview:

Responsible for assisting the Head Cooks in the preparation, serving of food.  This position is for energetic, fun people that love to serve behind the scenes and provide great service to our camp community.

Organization:

The Food Service Staff reports directly to the Food Service Manager, and the Directors.

Qualifications:

  • Current Food Safety Certificate

  • Previous cooking/kitchen experience OR a passion for cooking and willingness to learn

  • Previous kids camp experience preferred

  • Ability to take initiative and accept supervision

  • Ability to work with other kitchen staff - team player

  • Flexibility to deal with changing schedules and special dietary concerns

  • Ability to tolerate long hours of standing

  • Ability to maintain personal physical, mental, and spiritual health during a fast-paced summer

  • Adaptable to a constantly changing environment, working with many different personalities

  • Able to live with little access to social media, being encouraged by in-person conversations or times of rest and solitude.

Expectations

  • Adhere to the Camp Kadesh Staff manual and the MPSM Code of Conduct

  • Be involved in staff meetings, leadership clusters, one-on-ones, and community groups

  • Contribute in a positive manner to the Kadesh community

Responsibilities:

  • Show God’s love to the campers by preparing good food

  • Learn kitchen routine within the first week and be able to follow it independently

  • Be in the kitchen and ready to go for your shift on time (on time means 10 minutes early and apron and head wear on, hands washed - ready to go)

  • Assist cooks in preparing foods. This will include:

    • wash, peel, prepare vegetables

    • prepare poultry and meats

    • prepare baked goods including bread, buns, desserts

    • weigh and measure foods

    • ensuring proper food storage

    • prepare pots and pans for washing

  • Routine cleaning of kitchen and related equipment

  • Help unload and put away food deliveries
